The Grove mobile app offers a comprehensive way to explore the grounds while providing insights into Glenview’s local history, natural ecosystems, and the legacy of the Kennicott Family. Users can select from various tours tailored to their interests.

• “Day in the Life” Tour: This option delves into the storied past of the Kennicott Family, allowing visitors to traverse the interiors of the 1856 Kennicott house, the Log Cabin, and the Schoolhouse, giving an intimate view of historical daily life.
• “Behind the Scenes” Tour: This tour grants access to the Kennicott Archives and includes a glimpse of artifacts that are not part of the public display. Additionally, participants will learn about the diverse animals residing within the Interpretive Center and the dedicated efforts of animal care staff to ensure their well-being.
• “Traverse the Trails” Tour: For those inclined towards nature, this tour focuses on the unique natural history of The Grove. It highlights the resilience of native wildlife and plant species from prehistoric times through to modern day across this Illinois Nature Preserve.

The app also serves as a resource for staying informed about special events and programs occurring at The Grove.

With 148 acres of ecologically diverse prairie grove land preserved and maintained by the Glenview Park District, The Grove holds significant historical value as it was settled by the Kennicott Family in 1836. Notable for being home to Robert Kennicott, Illinois’ first naturalist, The Grove was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It maintains partnerships with organizations such as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Chicago Wilderness.
